Summer Internships (2) - Marketing Department

Certified Angus Beef LLC is seeking two summer interns in its marketing department. The paid internships will last 10-14 weeks and are located at the corporate office in Wooster, OH. Applications due by February 5, 2009. Interns will be selected by March 5, 2009.

The internships will focus on assisting the company's marketing team with key initiatives and the opportunity to see projects from start to completion. Strong communication and writing skills and the ability to plan and execute projects is required. Managing a variety of projects, with attention to deadlines and details, is essential.

Key Project Areas:

Public Relations / Writing - develop written communications to support the brand's annual conference in addition to press releases and feature stories

  • Work closely with the Public Relations team to develop the Annual Conference handbook, press releases and other pertinent writing assignments.
  • Write press releases.
  • Work with corporate chef to develop and write monthly column.
  • Research and write feature stories on restaurants or grocery stores.
  • Develop copy for specific sections of www.certifiedangusbeef.com.

Event Marketing - assist in the planning and execution of the Certified Angus Beef LLC Annual Conference, other on-site events as well as consumer events in designated markets.

  • Assist with planning and executing consumer events in Cincinnati, Norfolk and Wooster.
  • Attend events focused on educating consumers about the Certified Angus Beef® brand.
  • Attend and assist with the Brand Builders and Building Blocks for Success seminars in Wooster, OH.
  • Coordinate all aspects of Annual Conference awards including working with the sales team to solicit nominations, manage voting, and ordering, organizing and shipping award plaques.
  • Assist in the development of Annual Conference displays.
  • Assist with the Colvin Scholarship Golf Tournament and auction. Focusing on fundraising, follow-up, signange, pin flags and honoring sponsorship commitments.
  • Provide support in the planning of events, including sending invitations, entering registration information.
  • Coordinate brand involvement in Firehouse Grill-off hosted in Canton, Ohio, surrounding the Pro Football Hall of Fame activities.

Marketing Initiatives - assist in marketing initiatives targeted for restaurant and grocery store customers as well as projects targeted for feedlots and cattlemen. Includes taking complete ownership of projects and seeing items from start to completion.

  • Identify and assist key customers with completing applications for state beef backer award programs.
  • Implementation, training and auditing of the 2009 national summer retail promotion.
  • Execute key restaurant promotions that may include partnership opportunities, training programs, or VIP dinner events.
  • Identify and scan key advertisements for use in future sales presentations.
  • Work with identified licensed feedlots to develop marketing materials.
  • Develop informational pieces for cattle producers that explain topics such as grid marketing, selecting a feedlot partner, and using carcass data to manage a cow herd.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Person will not have supervisory responsibilities.

Employment Standards:

Intern should demonstrate an interest in business, communications or agriculture through pursuit of an animal science, marketing, business, communications, journalism or other degree related to agriculture. Available to students who are sophomore, junior or senior-level status for the Spring 2009 academic year.
